As we age, small lines and crow’s feet naturally begin to appear around our mouth. Cosmetic injectables are a cosmetic procedure (a little different than BOTOX) that can help restore volume around the mouth and smooth out those aging lines and wrinkles.
The filler substance is made up of mostly hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a sugar that occurs naturally in the body. As we age, the amount of HA in facial skin and muscles decreases, causing breakdown and wrinkles. The injection literally fills facial wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth, by adding volume to the skin and smoothing it out. It thereby restores a more youthful appearance. The results can last anywhere from three months to as much as a year, depending on multiple factors.
